The International Nature Prescribing Alliance (“INPA,” “we,” “us”) is a program of the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care Inc. (“CCGHC” or “the Coalition”). CCGHC owns and operates this website and is responsible for the personal information collected through it.

CCGHC is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation and registered charity that works toward an environmentally sustainable, climate-resilient health system. INPA is the Coalition’s international nature-prescribing alliance.

This policy is intended to follow Canadian privacy and anti-spam rules that apply to us, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and, because CCGHC has a Québec address, Québec’s Law 25 to the extent it applies. Because INPA is international, other laws (for example the GDPR) may also give some visitors additional rights.

What this policy covers

We collect personal information when you:

  • subscribe using either email form on this site;
  • donate through the INPA Zeffy form on this site;
  • contact us by form or email;
  • browse the site (technical data, and analytics if we use them).

CCGHC’s main site at greenhealthcare.ca has its own pages and lists (including The Green Digest). Signing up there is separate unless you also use a form on this site.

Information we collect

Email and signup forms

We operate two forms on this site.

Short form. We collect your email address so we can send INPA news and updates.

Long (Join the Alliance) form. We collect:

  • name;
  • country;
  • email address;
  • how you heard about us (dropdown);
  • whether you want to be kept updated by email (checkbox);
  • whether your organization is interested in membership (checkbox);
  • information about your organization.

We also record the date and time of signup and which form you used.

How we use this

  • If you use the short form, or you check “keep me updated via email” on the long form, we send INPA news, events, resources, and related Alliance updates, and we keep a record of that consent.
  • If you indicate organizational interest in INPA membership, we use your name, email, country, your organization’s information and that indication to follow up about membership. That follow-up is about the request you made. We will not add you to the newsletter unless you also opted in.
  • “How did you hear about us” is used only to understand how people find INPA (in aggregate where we can).
  • Country helps us understand where the Alliance is growing and to apply the right communications rules.

Submitting the short form is your request to join our email list. On the long form, newsletter mail is sent only if you check the updates box.

We do not sell, rent, or swap your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by writing to inpa@greenhealthcare.ca.

CCGHC staff administer the list. We may use an email service provider to store addresses and send mail. That provider processes your information only on our instructions.

Donations (Zeffy)

Donations on this site use an INPA-specific Zeffy form. Gifts are received by CCGHC on its existing charity account. CCGHC may issue a Canadian tax receipt where you are eligible.

You give donation information directly to Zeffy, not to our own servers. That typically includes:

  • name and email;
  • address, if requested for a receipt;
  • amount and frequency;
  • payment method type (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, and similar);
  • any optional message, dedication, or preference not to show your name publicly.

We do not collect or store your card number. Payments are processed by Zeffy’s processor, Stripe. Zeffy states that it does not store raw card details.

Zeffy makes donor details available to CCGHC in the Zeffy dashboard so we can thank you, issue or arrange a receipt, keep charity and accounting records, and contact you about that gift if needed.

We will not use a donor email for the INPA newsletter unless you also joined the list or clearly opted in on the donation form.

Data on Zeffy’s platform is also subject to the Zeffy Privacy Policy. Zeffy has said donor records are hosted on Amazon Web Services in Canada and that it does not sell personal data. Questions only Zeffy can answer: privacy@zeffy.com.

Contact form and email

If you write to us, we use the name, email, and message you send so we can reply, and for ordinary administration.

Information collected automatically

Our host and your browser may log IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, and date and time. We use this to run and secure the site and to see which pages are useful. We do not sell it for advertising.

If we use an analytics tool, we will name it here when it is in place.

Why we use personal information

  • operate the site and answer you;
  • send email you asked for;
  • follow up on membership interest you indicated;
  • process and record donations through Zeffy to CCGHC;
  • issue receipts and meet charity, tax, and accounting rules;
  • understand, in general terms, how people find INPA and where they are;
  • protect the site against abuse;
  • improve the site and INPA’s work.

We do not use this information for automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

When we share information

We share personal information only as needed:

  • CCGHC staff, contractors, and board members who need it to run INPA, the site, the list, or donations;
  • service providers (website host, email tool, Zeffy, Stripe);
  • professional advisers (accountant, lawyer, auditor);
  • authorities, if the law requires it or to protect rights, safety, or property;
  • a successor organisation, if CCGHC or INPA is reorganised, on similar privacy terms.

INPA is not a separate legal person. Information collected on this site is CCGHC information. We do not sell personal information and we do not hand the list to unaffiliated organisations for their own marketing.

Storage and transfers

Donation data on Zeffy is described by Zeffy as stored in Canada. Email and website data may be stored in Canada or in another country where a provider operates. Those countries may have different privacy laws. We take reasonable steps so providers protect information they handle for us.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter list: while you remain subscribed, then a short period so we can honour an unsubscribe request and show we had consent. We then delete or irreversibly anonymise the record unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Membership-interest records: while we are handling your interest and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can pick up a conversation you started; we then delete or anonymise them unless you become a member and we must keep a membership file.
  • Donation and receipt records: at least as long as Canadian charity and tax rules require (generally six years after the end of the relevant tax year); we may keep them longer if our accountant advises it. Zeffy also keeps records under its own policy.
  • Correspondence: until your request is finished, then only as needed for administration.
  • Server logs: a limited period for security and diagnostics.

Security

We use reasonable measures, including HTTPS on the site and limited access to the email list and Zeffy dashboard. No online system is completely secure. Do not send card numbers to us by ordinary email.

Your rights

You may:

  • ask whether we hold information about you, and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct it;
  • withdraw consent and unsubscribe from email;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
  • complain about how we handled your information.

Email inpa@greenhealthcare.ca with the subject line “Privacy.” We may need to confirm it is you.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also have GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (1-800-282-1376). Québec residents may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Email and CASL

We send newsletter email only with your consent (short form submitted, or the updates box checked on the long form). Those messages include a working unsubscribe link.

Messages about a donation you made, or about a membership enquiry you submitted, are not newsletter marketing. We may still send those as needed to complete what you asked for.

Children

This site is for health professionals, organisations, and adult supporters. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. The current version will be on this page. If we change how we use the email list or donor information in a material way, we will give a clearer notice where appropriate.
